This summer I had the privilege of documenting our good friend Susan and her husband Derek as they awaited their little boy and then again when these two became new parents! For Susan’s maternity session we headed to Philadelphia to capture her as a gorgeous mama and document her baby bump! I loved spending time with these two. Susan is a photographer herself and has become an amazing friend in the past few years. I actually met her when she was in need of a Spanish-speaking photographer to help her capture a wedding for a Spanish-speaking groom. When I saw her call for help, I reached out and I’m so glad I did because we have since then become such good friends and we have continued to second shoot weddings for each other a few times every year. I loved following along on her pregnancy journey, getting a peek at her weekly bump photos, hearing all the details of her beautiful pregnancy, the anticipation leading up to her son’s birth, all the details about her delivery experience, and of course, her journey as a new mother. I’m so thankful for our friendship and look forward to following along on her family’s journey together. I already know she and Derek are wonderful parents and their new baby boy, Oliver, is a lucky guy!
On the day of Oliver’s newborn session I knew I was in for a treat – this little guy weighed 8lbs. 12 oz. at birth! He was such a chunky little guy and I loved it! Back rolls for days!! He was such a sweet boy and he was so well-behaved. He even gave me a gorgeous camera-aware shot with his big eyes staring right at me. But my favorite part of the session was seeing Susan and Derek as parents, holding Oliver in their hands. This little guy won the lottery with these two. They share so much love, and he is going to grow up in such a joyful home.
Susan and Derek, thank you for allowing me to capture you during this absolutely amazing time in your lives! It was such an honor and I’m so happy for you two! I can’t wait to see Oliver grow and become good friends with our own little girl. He’ll be just six months older than her so I think they’ll get along great! Here’s to lots of play dates! xoxo
