If you follow our main blog, a couple of faces from this post will seem familiar to you! Jill is Jay’s younger sister. She and her husband Steve were married last year and we captured their wedding day so we’ve been documenting their story for a couple of years now. From engagement to wedding to their first child!
Steve’s job has taken them out to Vancouver for a few years but they come back to NJ often. I remember when Jill and Steve came home last fall and I told Jay that I had a feeling Jill and Steve were expecting. I totally guessed right! Jill came back to NJ to have the baby here this past May and I had the privilege of being in the delivery room. It was an amazing experience that I couldn’t possibly begin to recap here but suffice it to say, Colin’s birth has been a highlight this year. It’s hard to believe that the little guy in these images is turning 5 months this week!
On the day of his newborn session, Colin was so well-behaved! He was either yawning or sleeping the entire time I was working with him so we were able to get a ton of images. We incorporated lots of creams and shades of blue and soft green and Colin looked adorable all swaddled up and wearing cute little hats. I always tell parents that I supply all blankets and hats but sometimes parents have a couple of special items to include, and so did Jill, so once we had gotten all the must-have shots, (including a shot with a hat made by Aunt Jenny!), we incorporated a couple of items that Jill had brought along. First, a crochet blanket made by Aunt Mary Ann. These types of blankets are perfect for when the baby is lying on his back because I can simply drape it over the baby and it looks like he’s tucked neatly into bed. We also included a scarf from Jill and Steve’s honeymoon in Scotland and with that, we wrapped up the session and let Colin continue sleeping while we spent some time with Jill and Steve. All while watching Colin. Because when there’s a new baby in the family, you know all you want to do is watch them, even while they’re sleeping. Am I right?! Below are just a few of my favorites from our time together – enjoy getting to know the newest little member of our family!
